Not only can she recite all the letters of the alphabet and the animals that go with them - she can do it without watching the dvd! The DVDs do not just teach "basic" animals like "cat and dog", but many you very seldom use, which definitely expanded her world. She just turned 2. I would encourage any parent to give these a try! "This is the really cool thing I wanted to share. My son Josh is gaining words every week after only a few weeks of watching the ABCs video. Last Thursday Josh's speech therapist was here working with him. She was reading a book to Josh and he pointed to a letter and said "W". She decided to see what letters he knew. He correctly told her every letter except L (which is tough to say anyway). She was blown away!!! I have 6 children and NONE of them knew their letters at 2 1/2. What's even better is that he just beams when he tells me the letters!!! He's so proud of himself. It's as if he knows he can't speak as much, but he wants me to know he understands. For a long time I wondered if my daughter was learning at a slow rate. When I took her to gymnastics for only two-year-olds, it seemed like all the kids were a lot smarter than her. And it's okay if she does learn at a slower pace, but it really made me wonder if I was doing everything I could as a parent to help her. She couldn't count at all, she didn't know very many alphabet sounds, the ABC's were gibberish to her, and don't get me started on colors! Everything in the house was, "blue!" I was just a little stressed out. So one day I got on the internet and went searching. I didn't know what exactly I was searching for, but I knew I needed something! I looked at games, books, movies, everything... but nothing stood out to me. Then I came across Brainy Baby. There it was... the product I was searching for! Every DVD is dedicated to making your baby smarter! I mean, if you want your kid to be bright, you might as well start them out young... am I right? I figured that I might as well give them a try! So I ordered a few DVDs. I was so excited when they arrived and was even more excited when we started watching them! Lily absolutely loved them! She was laughing so hard at the "Laugh and Learn" video. That video was probably my very favorite of the bunch. Your kids learn A LOT while having fun! It's been a month since we purchased those Brainy Baby DVDs, and Lily has shown incredible progress! She can count from 1 to 10 with no issues; she knows about half the alphabet, she loves to make animal sounds when we see them out the window; however she is still having some problems with colors. "We discovered our local public library carried Brainy Baby tapes, and we began checking them out, one week at a time. Drew was absolutely thrilled. We had to "rotate" the tapes on a regular basis, but every time he saw a Brainy Baby tape in the stack from the library, he pulled it out and pestered us to play it immediately. He watches them over and over and over. He repeats the ABCs with the tapes and even repeats some of the words. He tries to sing along with songs. He LOVES Brainy Baby everything! (As a funny aside, we brought home a Baby Einstein once. He wanted to see it, but after he watched a couple minutes of it he got upset and brought us a Brainy Baby tape instead. "I am very impressed with the Brainy Baby videos we have tried so far (Shapes & Colors; English; Animals). My 16-mo-old is captivated by this Shapes & Colors video and I've been amazed by all the shapes she can identify (triangle, circle, square, rectangle, oval, heart, star, crescent). I'm not saying she learned all of this from this video; she's also learning from books, puzzles and our conversations in "everyday life." But what I like most about these Brainy Baby videos -- as compared to Baby Einstein -- is that they name the objects clearly as they show them. The BE videos we have tend to show objects along with nice music (and my daughter enjoys naming the objects as she sees them), but as she is quite interested in learning names for objects right now, I like the fact that these videos name everything.
